Sewing, Padding & Upholstery

Our upholstery work brings together sewing, padding and covering to form the seats, backs and upholstered contours of chairs and sofas. The work varies with the material and furniture design.

Sewing & Panel Assembly

We sew upholstery pieces into covers for the relevant furniture components, with stitch spacing and seam placement considered according to the design.

Padding Preparation

Foam and padding are prepared for the relevant seat, back or other upholstered component. Their arrangement follows the furniture design before the covering is fitted.

Covering & Shaping

Upholstery is fitted around the padded component and worked into its intended contours. Curves, corners and transitions are shaped according to the individual piece.

Finished Details & Checks

Seams, corners and upholstered contours shape the finished appearance of chairs and sofas. Our review considers these details alongside the requirements of the individual furniture design.

Seams & Contours

We review seam placement, corner shaping and the upholstered outline in relation to the furniture design. These details show how the covering follows the seat, back or arm form.

Checks for the Finished Piece

Depending on the product, checks include appearance, dimensions, feel and sitting assessment. Assembled seating is also reviewed for level and stability, with the applicable checks considered for the individual design.

Swatches & Material Selection

Fabric colour cards and leather or alternative upholstery samples provide physical references for comparing texture and shade. These can be reviewed alongside the furniture design and other material finishes.
